WELCOME THE FROG PRINCESS GROUP!

Posted by Lara Parent

1. Based on the original story, The Frog Prince, by the Brothers Grimm, what do YOU think The Frog Princess will be about?

2. The very first paragraph is an important one, "Even as a little girl I had thought that the swamp was a magical place where new lives began and old ones ended, where enemies and heroes weren't always what one expected, and where anything could happen, even to a clumsy princess. Although I'd believed this for most of my life, I had no proof until Prince Jorge came to visit and I met the frog of my dreams."

Keep this quote in mind as you read...

3. Read chapter 1.

4. On a character web, describe Emma.

5. What is Emma's problem? What is the frog's problem?

6. Reread the last paragraph. What do you think Emma will do?

7. Review chapter 1 and find the best piece of descriptive language.

#1.) It will probably be very much the same. It might have a few different parts that have been added on. It looks like a very good book. The story might not be so "fairytailish."

I think it will be about a princess that finds a frog or it has to live with her I bet she had lost something and there was a frog she said something that she will forget and the frog will not get the cut of the favor and the frog and come usually coming and knocking at her door and then the usual?????

I think it would be about a prince who finds a frog that is going to get something for him but, wants to go to his house, sleep in his bed and so on.

#2.) Emma's problem is that she doesn't have enough sense to help as darn frog. And the frogs problem is that he's a prince who was turned into a frog by an evil witch. Would you guys do that favor for the frog?

#3.) I think that Emma is going to think about it for a while and then decide that it's going to have to be how the frog says it's going to be.

I don't understand question number 2.

#4.) Pg. 2 last paragraph continued on 3

Taya. all it means is that you have to think about that while you're reading. i don't know why but......................................

Anonymous said...

Is this an exciting book? What do you think?

Anonymous said...

ask some Qs.

Anonymous said...

I guess I am proved wrong, the frog is a prince.

What does a frog princess have to do with a frog prince?

Micah,
which parts specifically will be the same?
Interesting comment about it might not being so fairy-tale-ish...we'll just have to wait and see I guess...
Micah, what makes a story a fairy-tale? What are its characteristics?

Anonymous said...

Jocelyn,
Interesting. Do you think she will end up liking the frog or marrying it like she did in the story?

Anonymous said...

Taya,
So you think it will essentially be the same story?

For comment on #2, Micah, good thinking. So, you think she SHOULD help the frog? How does she know that the frog is really telling her the truth? Can you always trust people, or characters in books for that matter?
I think I would kiss the frog. The last line in the chapter is a killer!

Taya and Jocelyn,
Please respond to Micah's question...would you...???

Anonymous said...

Micah, will you please type in the sentence or two for your descriptive language?

Taya and Jocelyn, please do: #5, #6, and #7.

#2 is not a question, just something to keep in mind. :)

Jocelyn,
What is there to think about? Don't you feel bad for the frog?

Anonymous said...

Micah,
If the frog was a girl frog who supposedly had an EVIL SPELL by a witch cast upon her, would you kiss her?????

Anonymous said...

Dear Mrs.parent when will you answer Michas Qs and yes I think she will marry the frog.

Anonymous said...

Jocelyn,
Interesting that you think she will marry the frog.

Anonymous said...

miss parent-
WHAT ON EARTH MAKES YOU THINK I SHOULD!
(besides because i asked the girls.)

Anonymous said...

Yes, Micah I do think it is a exciting book so far.

Anonymous said...

miss parent-'I turned toward the voice and...but no animal had ever spoken to me before.

Anonymous said...

I think Emma's problem is that she will do nothing of what they tell her she will do what ever she pleases and just sit around and do nothing i mean she wouldn't evan kiss the darn frog i mean just kiss it and move on with your life geez!

Anonymous said...

Yes I do believe she will help the frog.

Anonymous said...

Emma doesn't want to see the prince, and she has a frog that wants to kiss her but she thinks he's out of his mind.

But, the prince is trying to convince
the princess that a witch put a spell on him but she won't believe him.

I think the frogs problem is that he is to desperate he actually thinks that a princess A PRINCESS! would kiss him I mean what is wrong with that picture AAHHHHH!

Anonymous said...

Unfortunately, being born a princess doesn't just make you a graceful girl or confident, a fact I've lamented for most of my fourteen years.

Anonymous said...

I do think she will kiss the frog just to get that feeling off of her back :*

Anonymous said...

Uhhh? taya I don't really understand what you are saying????

Anonymous said...

I had thought that the swamp was a magical place where new lives began and old ones ended where heroes and enemies weren't always what one expected and where anything could happen even to a clumsy princess.

Good desscriptive passages, everyone.
Micah, you've dodged the question....AGAIN!

Keep up the good work.
